Siblings

It was a lovely morning. “It is morning already..”, and I got up from my bed. I smiled as I saw light through the window. I wake u before my sister every day that is because she usually goes to sleep late at night.

She also does not take a nap in between in the daytime. I do take a day nap sometimes. So it is that she gets her sleep complete and wake up on her own time. Mom too does not interrupt her sleep nowadays, since we are having yearly holidays after our academic exams.

We will be together the whole day. Evening we both go to our area park where children of all ages and from all neighboring areas come out to play.

“It will be too sunny out now. You should not go out to play. Evening when it cooler you can”, mom would suggest to us when we insist her if we can go to the park during day time. So staying indoors, we play, we watch TV and at times do quarrel.”You don’t play what I want to. You are very bad”, my sister would say if I don’t agree to play her house-house game or with her Barbie dolls. “We will play with our heroes now”, I would yell at times which she would do agree at times to play with my Avenger Toys.

It is many times that mom patiently resolves our sibling quarrels. At times it happens that our quarrels exceed her patience. She tries to resolve first, “Be quiet both of you”, she tries once and twice to make us stop our silly debates. “Stop it both of you!”, will be her last warning.

If not even then, she directly scolds us or gets upset for herself. “If you are hungry then have food else eat some fruits and go to sleep!”, she would yell at us and she herself would go to her room. We would then realize that she had a tiresome day and mom loves us the most.

“It is not my fault!!”, “It is yours not mine!”, we both were quarreling one day when mom returned home. Without speaking a word, she went into her room and came back with her T-Shirt when we still were in mid-argument. She hurriedly came towards us, hold up by our arms, and made us stand with our backs joined together. She put her T-Shirt on both of us and had our hands out from the shirt’s short sleeves. We were tied to each other. “Unless you both resolve your argument by yourself, don’t come out of this T-Shirt”, she warned us and went for her daily chores. This trick worked through very well that is because we were neither able to sit at a place nor run safely together.

And then we had to give up. “Sorry”, we said to each other and went to our mother sliding our feet towards the kitchen, carefully so that none of us fall and get hurt. “Sorry eomma”, we said in chorus. “We will be good to each other”, we apologized. Mom smiled.

Apologizing helps repair relationships by getting people talking again, and makes them feel comfortable with each other again. A sincere apology allows you to let people know you’re not proud of what you did, and won’t be repeating the behavior.
